As the year 2011 comes to a close we start making plans for the upcoming year. Life, after all, is a result of the choices we make. I asked myself one question. What can I do to improve myself in the next year.  I am always looking for what I can do to better myself.  I don't believe we ever reach our full potential.

I decided three things could be done before the year is over. I would improve my foreign language skills, go to bartending school and publish some writings. Adding those three things would make me more marketable. That also would increase my personal satisfaction along with positioning me to take advantage of more opportunities in the future

I took several steps to improve my conversational Spanish. Putting the television on a Spanish channel (with the cc on) was a first step. I purchased a book and a dvd (2nd hand). I followed a Spanish word a day on twitter.

My job requires me to serve a limited number of drinks and get a abc (alcoholic beverage commission server permit) card. Why not go ahead and learn to do the whole thing? I went to bartending school. I decided that may be a way to earn some extra income. It may also give me a chance to go new places and meet new people.

I also am attempting to publish a couple of short stories that I have written. I might as well take myself seriously as a writer. It has been something tht I have always wanted to do. I have some works just sitting around the house. If nothing else ever comes out of it other than a sense of accomplishment and being productive I will take it.
